Metal joining techniques: welds and rivets
SOME Stamping Solutions is a leading supplier of all types of metal parts and assemblies. We manufacture welding and riveting processes with specialized machinery.

Metal joining techniques are the controlled processes used to fuse metals. These operations allow metals to be joined together to construct parts of different geometries and shapes.
There are multiple mechanical joining techniques that can be divided into two large blocks. On the one hand, there are rigid joining techniques, such as welding or riveting, which allow metals to be permanently fused with great strength. And, on the other hand, the mobile metal joints that offer the possibility of joining metal pieces destined to favour some movements or prevent others.
SOME Stamping Solutions is a leading supplier of all types of high-precision metal parts and assemblies for numerous industrial sectors. We have more than 40 years of experience offering tailor-made solutions for our customers.
Our facilities have a wide variety of machinery to offer the best results, whatever the size of the manufacturing series and the technical complexity required by the customer. We are specialists in different types of mechanical joints with welds or rivets.
METAL JOINING TECHNIQUES: WELDING
The welding method is the process of joining two or more metal parts of identical or similar composition by the application of heat, pressure or both. The process is produced by another metal, known as filler metal, which has the same or similar compositional characteristics, and which allows continuity to be given to the joined elements.
It is important to bear in mind that during the welding process the fused joined elements must be protected from harmful gases from the outside so that they do not affect the solid and rigid part being manufactured.
Welding makes it possible to join metal parts used in different industrial sectors such as industrial ventilation and air-conditioning, medical diagnostic equipment or computer and electronic equipment.
METAL JOINING TECHNIQUES: RIVETS
Riveting is another of the most commonly used processes for permanently joining two or more metal parts. The rivet consists of a cylindrical tube, known as a rod, which has a head to its end that can have different shapes. These heads have a larger diameter than the rest of the rivet so that this can be inserted into a hole and can be fitted.
Rivets are one of the oldest metal joining techniques, but nowadays, thanks to automation processes, these processes have become cheaper.
Riveting is used in different sectors such as the automotive or industrial sectors to fix resistant, rigid and fixed metal parts.
At SOME we have a wide range of machinery for welding and riveting processes. We have several riveting and robotic spot and TIG-MIG welding centres, as well as different manual welding centres that allow us to assemble various components to provide solutions in the industrial area.
We also have automatic assembly stations specifically designed for projects in the automotive sector.
